Japan, Australia and Singapore secured their spots in the Women’s 2025 World Floorball Championships and are the last three teams to qualify for the WFC final round. Now all 16 teams are known for the event that is played this December in Brno and Ostrava in the Czech Republic.
Japan were the first team to secure their spot in the AOFC Qualification semi-finals and as Thailand were the second team from Group A to go through to the semi-finals, it was clear that Japan would qualify for WFC (read more here). Japan have been unstoppable so far in the WFCQ and they end the group stage with a clean sheet – 3 matches and 3 wins. They won their first match against India 22-0, second game against New Zealand 5-1 and third one, so far being the toughest challenge, 4-1 against Thailand.
Rimi Motoki is dominating the statistics on the Japanese side and with 6 goals and 5 assists in three games, she is the second best top scorer of the Group A.
Australia take the first place in Group B and their match against the Philippines decided their qualification for the WFC. Australia won the game against Korea 10-0 and then played a 2-2 draw with Singapore. In the final match in the group stage, Australia showed they were ahead of Philippines and deserve to qualify for WFC, final score being 11-3.
Katie Wright is the current top scorer of Team Australia with 3 goals and 3 assists.
Singapore followed a similar path and the WFCQ hosts also stamped their ticket for the WFC 2025. They won their first match against the Philippines 7-0 and also beat Korea 12-1.
Siti Nurhaliza Khairul Anuar is the current top scorer of Team Singapore with 5 goals and an assist.
The AOFC WFCQ is also the qualification event for The World Games 2025 and the two best teams qualifying for Chengdu, China, will be known after the semi-finals on Friday 21st of March.
